Can CBD help with anxiety
Anxiety is a normal part of life for many. Some experience more severe symptoms associated with anxiety while others experience more milder symptoms. There are a plethora of drugs on the market that promise to address this problem using FDA-approved medication along with a variety of complimentary, all-natural options such as cannabinol oil (CBD).
Some individuals do prefer a more natural approach when dealing with the various forms of anxiety. A 2020 study was conducted on 397 participants living in New Zealand. The study revealed that, after three weeks of receiving medical CBD prescriptions, for a variety of ailments including anxiety, 70% of participants reported an overall improvement in their day-to-day functions.
In another retrospective study, conducted specifically on candidates that suffered from anxiety or sleep disorders, it was revealed that after receiving one tablet a day, of 25 milligram CBD, up to 79.2% of participants reported experiencing an improvement in anxiety symptoms after only two months.
Furthermore, in a 2020 article, the authors aimed to determine the effects of CBD on various forms of anxiety by reviewing eight studies on the use of CBD to treat anxiety. The results seemed in favor of using CBD as a complimentary form of therapy to aid in relieving symptoms of anxiety. Areas of focus and treatment include social anxiety disorder, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), as well as generalized anxiety disorder.
Administration of CBD comes in a variety of forms including:
- Capsules
- Edibles
- CBD oil
- Sublingual spray
- vaporized oil or cannabis flowers
While the use of CBD to aid in the treatment of anxiety has not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), or regulated by the FDA, studies and research continue to be conducted that seem to suggest CBD may assist with relieving anxiety.
Always consult with a health care provider first before pursuing alternative forms of medication.
